In November 2011 the number of dwelling unit approvals in WA decreased by 1.7% in trend terms, and represents a continuing decline over the last four months.
The seasonally adjusted figure decreased by 16.9% on the previous month.
The number of dwelling units approved in November 2011 was 11.8% lower in trend terms than in November 2010. Over the year, only the NT recorded an increase in the number of building approvals in trend terms, from 76 to 79, or 3.9%.
Building approvals statistics include the number and value of new building work approved by administrative bodies in the collection period. They relate to the construction of new residential buildings, renovations and additions valued at $10,000 or more and the construction of non-residential buildings valued at $50,000 or more. Approvals of engineering works for roads, bridges or railways are not included in these statistics.
